Ahem, seeing as there are a lot of people here who might be able to help me out, I figured I'd have my own thread for such issues I'm having on writing/art/etc. The biggest one I can never seem to fix on my own though, is unique clothes to give my male characters.
More specifically, I'm referring to casual clothes as I can design suits, coats, and other clothes most people don't usually wear. However, when it comes to everyday wear, I always end up sticking with the usuall T-shirt and jeans/khakis.
So anybody got any ideas? ._. Preferably the, like, 3 dudes on this forum. XDD

Best advice I can give is go look at fashion magazines or better yet, go walk around somewhere busy or look at what people wear at school. Clothes are very important and convey a lot about a characters personality, so researching them by looking at what people wear is important.
You also need to pin down what time period the characters are in as well.

I've looked through fashion magazines, however most of my characters do not wear big designer clothes. So going that route would probably not work for me, anyway. I like the idea of going out to a crowded place to observe. Hopefully, no one will think strange of me by staring. XD
Thanks!

I work at Wal-mart at the moment. Trust me you get all kinds of people in there, and some very scary looking people. So many people tend to come in wearing their pajamas, with no bras, mismatched clothes and colors, clothes that do not fit nor look pleasing on them. Though I do suppose that these people are the exceptions. You do get some normal people in there every now and then, but then there seem to be the high schoolers who wear baggy sweatshirts, t-shirts that have the sleeves cut off or ones that have just come from work and are all dirty.
Not that they are bad examples (in fact I think I am right now arguing why it is a good place to go), I am just saying that if you do go, you will have to pick and choose exactly who you deem fit to see what they are wearing. Plus there really is not a good spot to sit and watch people at in most stores. I would say if anything malls are a better place. Most people tend to dress a little better when going to malls and not every Tom, Dick, or Harry are in the stores. Plus you could grab a bite to eat and sit in the food court to easily people watch.

LOL So that kind of bites that in the butt. Though I have been getting good clothing ideas for people I see who generally appear to match my characters' personalities and what-not. I kind of agree on the Walmart thing, however I do have a few characters who actually probably would wear what half of the people at Walmart wear JS. XDD
